There is no ‘one size fits all’ way to support someone with a mental illness. How we care for someone will depend on the individuals own needs. There is no set way to support someone with a mental illness.
We know that a person may already have support from a Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) key worker, or other mental health services, and we will always want to link with the individual case worker about the current care plan, and support the social, personal, and domestic care needs in a supplementary way. We would also support anything to help them develop independent living skills.
If you live with someone who needs help, you might find some of their behaviour difficult or challenging, we can support you with trying to maintain independent living. We know that some people might stay in bed for long periods of the day, not wash regularly, smoke more or not take their medication etc, it is important that we can help with supporting strategies for this.
